PT// “Plantas e Pessoas que Curam” é uma residência artística que incide sobre o território da freguesia de São Luís pretendendo uma aproximação a este lugar, à sua paisagem e às suas pessoas. Enquandra-se num projecto maior – “Curandeiras entre nós” – a ser desenvolvido durante o ano de 2024 em diferentes localidades do concelho de Odemira (São Luís, Troviscais, Almograve, Santa Clara-a-Velha e Saboia).
Esta aproximação será realizada através de uma investigação artístico-científica em torno das plantas medicinais e do património imaterial relacionado com a figura e ofício da Curandeira, presente nas aldeias e que ainda hoje podemos encontrar manifestações.
EN// “Plantas e Pessoas que Curam” (Healing Plants and People) is an artistic residency that focuses on the territory of São Luís intending to get closer to this place, its landscape and its people. It is part of a larger project – “Curandeiras entre nós” (“Women healers among us”) – to be developed during 2024 in different locations in the municipality of Odemira (São Luís, Troviscais, Almograve, Santa Clara-a-Velha and Saboia).
This approach will be achieved through artistic-scientific research into medicinal plants and the intangible heritage related to the figure and craft of the Curandeira, present in the villages and which we can still find manifestations of today.
BIO
Formada em Conservação e Restauro pela FCT UNL (2004), frequentou o Curso Performance Arte Portuguesa: performers e performances na FCSH UNL (2017) e o MAUMAUS Independent Study Program (2018). É co-fundadora e membro da direcção da Project Earth Associação para a Valorização Sustentável de Regiões de Convergência. É Presidente da CACO (Associação de Artesãos do Concelho de Odemira) desde Maio de 2023.Criou a oficina de cerâmica na escola Mart – espaço de projecto, aprendizagem e experimentação artística (Lisboa) que coordenou de 2017-2019.Mudou-se em 2018 de Lisboa para Santa Clara-a-Velha (Odemira). Nos últimos anos, tem vindo a dedicar-se a iniciativas de activismo ecológico (SOS RIO MIRA) e comunitário (ALDEIAS À VISTA, Colectivo GIRA e MARIE ANTOINETTE), promovendo processos para a colaboração e construção colectiva. Em simultâneo, e porque acredita nas potencialidades do envolvimento a partir de uma política de localização, procurou entender e conhecer melhor as estruturas artísticas e de criação da região, tendo-se envolvido com o espaço CRIAR (Centro em Rede de Inovação do Artesanato Regional), Associação Sopa dos Artistas, Ateneu do Catorze, Teatro da Targala e a Comissão Consultiva do Projecto Cultural de Escola (Agrupamento de Escolas de Sabóia) onde é pelo segundo ano artista residente do Plano Nacional das Artes.
Graduated in Conservation and Restoration from FCT UNL (2004), she attended the Performance Arte Portuguesa: performers and performances course at FCSH UNL (2017) and the MAUMAUS Independent Study Program (2018). She is co-founder and board member of Project Earth – Association for the Sustainable Valorization of Convergence Regions. She has been President of CACO (Association of Artisans of the Municipality of Odemira) since May 2023. She created the ceramics workshop at Escola Mart – espaço de projecto, aprendizagem e experimentação artística (Lisbon), which she coordinated from 2017-2019. In 2018, she moved from Lisbon to Santa Clara-a-Velha (Odemira). In recent years, she has dedicated herself to ecological (SOS RIO MIRA) and community (ALDEIAS À VISTA, Colectivo GIRA and MARIE ANTOINETTE) activism initiatives, promoting processes for collaboration and collective construction. At the same time, and because she believes in the potential of involvement based on a localization policy, she has sought to understand and get to know the region’s artistic and creative structures better, having been involved with the CRIAR space (Regional Crafts Innovation Network Centre), the Sopa dos Artistas Association, Ateneu do Catorze, Teatro da Targala and the School Cultural Project Advisory Committee (Agrupamento de Escolas de Sabóia), where she is a resident artist for the National Arts Plan for the second year.
