Estes são tempos improváveis. Há um ano atrás começamos a sentir os primeiros efeitos de um acontecimento – uma mudança que viria sob a forma de uma pandemia. As nossas rotinas diárias foram completamente adiadas e fomos obrigados a repensar, a refazer e a adaptarmo-nos para conseguirmos dar resposta a tal altercação. As vidas ficaram, de facto, em espera. Estes são tempos improváveis e as consequências atingem um patamar para lá da Crise na Saúde. A saúde e a segurança foram uma parte importante mas tornou-se claro que os  humanos, enquanto um sistema vivo coletivo, temos certas fragilidades que já vem de trás e que agora estão, mais do que nunca, à flor da pele e precisam de ser repensadas mais do que nunca.

A Cultivamos Cultura e o Arte Institute em colaboração com os nossos parceiros pelo mundo promovemos ativamente condições para receber e criar respostas criativas dos artistas em relação a estes novos desafios. Juntos desenvolvemos uma série de atividades dentro do FACTT Festival 20/21 que resultam de uma complexa rede de interações sociais e ambientais. Juntos planeamos atividades, abertas ao publico,  remotas, presenciais, locais e internacionais com o objetivo de divulgar e apresentar o trabalho de artistas um pouco por todo o mundo. Queremos apresentar peças artísticas e resultados criativos num espaço híbrido que entrelaça o espaço virtual e físico. Um espaço que quer romper com os limites do acesso à cultura, da colaboração e da experiência da arte.

Seguindo a ideia dos Humanos como um sistema coletivo vivo em si mesmo, é difícil não pensar como a nossa conduta individual afecta o caminho de todos. Nesta edição do FACTT propomos refletir sobre a Arte numa perspetiva livre mas com uma ligação forte aos tempos que vivemos. Temos um impacto maior do que podemos pensar e as nossas ações têm consequências não só para a Humanidade mas também para os sistemas não-humanos. Podemos pensar que este sistema coletivo, em que queiramos ou  não estamos todos envolvidos, enquanto um organismo funciona, tal como outros organismos, funcionamos em diferentes e complexas escalas. A nossa comunidade alargada  floresceu através da fragilidade e as nossas escolhas têm agora uma maior e mais pesada influência no que será o pós-crise.

Através do FACTT 20/21 queremos pensar profunda e criativamente juntos sobre os tempos (in)prováveis que vivemos. Queremos desenvolver colaborativamente novas estratégias para enfrentar as rápidas e súbitas mudanças nas nossas vidas e no ambiente. Este ano o FACTT é, mais do que nunca, um processo em movimento de pesquisa sobre adaptação, constantemente a repensar-se a si mesmo transformando-se numa experiência profunda e rica para todos, sem excepção, além Arte.

These are improbable times. A year ago we started to feel the first effects of an event – a change that would come in a form of a pandemic. Our daily routines were completely put on hold and we were forced to rethink, remake and adapt in order to respond to such an altercation. Lives were, indeed, put on hold. These are (inn)probable times and the consequences reach beyond the health crisis. It became clear that humans, as a collective living system, have certain fragilities that linger throughout time and that right now, have to be rethought more than ever.

Cultivamos Cultura and Arte Institute in collaboration with our worldwide partners provide and actively promote conditions to foster the creative response of artists towards these new challenges. Together we develop a series of activities within FACTT Festival 20/21 which result from a complex network of social and environmental interactions. Together we plan remote, face-to-face, local and international public engagement activities, by bringing to the forefront the work of artists from all over the world. We plan to present artworks and creative outcomes in a hybrid space entangling the virtual and physical; a space that desires to break the limits of access to culture, to collaboration, to the experience of art.

Following the idea of humans as a collective, living and breathing system, it’s difficult not to think how our individual actions affect the course of the whole. In this FACTT we propose to reflect about Art in a loose but strong parallel to the times we’re living. We have a larger impact than what we might think at first and all our actions have consequences not just for humanity but for the non-human systems. We can think of this collective system, in which we are all involved, as an organism, and like other organisms we work in distinct and complex scales. Our extended community has bloomed through fragility, and our choices have now a bigger, heavier influence on what will be the aftermath of this crisis.

Through FACTT20/21 we wish to think deeply and creatively together about the (inn)probable times we are living in, by developing collaborative new strategies to face the rapid and sudden transformations our lives and environment. This year’s FACTT is more than ever an ongoing research process of adaptation, constantly rethinking itself into becoming a profound and richer experience for all, without exceptions, beyond art.
