PT// O CINEMA FULGOR é um cinema com raízes móveis, itinerante pela constelação espacial do Baixo Alentejo. Cinema composto e semente, pretende participar na construção de uma ruralidade viva e autónoma, convocar e nutrir as diversas e dispersas comunidades, propondo o cinema enquanto experiência comunal e ecológica.

“Este filme, sob a forma de uma nouba, é dedicado, a título póstumo, ao músico húngaro Béla Bartók, que se deslocou a uma Argélia quase muda para estudar a sua música popular em 1913; e a Yaminai Oudai, conhecida como Zoulikha, que organizou uma rede de resistência na cidade de Cherchell e nas suas montanhas em 1955 e 1956. Foi detida nas montanhas quando tinha quarenta anos. O seu nome foi posteriormente acrescentado à lista dos desaparecidos. Lila – a protagonista deste filme – poderia ser a filha de Zoulikha. As outras seis mulheres falantes de Chenoua contam fragmentos das suas vidas. A Nouba das Mulheres é o seu momento. Mas a Nouba é também a Nouba da música andaluza nos seus movimentos rítmicos particulares”.

La Nouba toma emprestada a estrutura da nouba, uma forma musical tradicional andaluza em cinco partes, para contar a história de uma mulher que regressa à cidade da sua infância quinze anos após a violenta Guerra pela Independência. Lendo a história do seu país escrita nas histórias das vidas das mulheres, La Nouba des Femmes du Mont Chenoua é um retrato cativante da fala e do silêncio, da memória e da criação, e de uma tradição onde o passado e o presente coexistem.

“This film, in the form of a nouba, is dedicated, posthumously, to the Hungarian musician Béla Bartók, who went to an almost mute Algeria to study its popular music in 1913; and to Yaminai Oudai, known as Zoulikha, who organized a resistance network in the town of Cherchell and its mountains in 1955 and 1956. She was arrested in the mountains when she was forty. Her name was later added to the list of the disappeared. Lila – the protagonist of this film – could be Zoulikha’s daughter. The other six speaking women of Chenoua tell fragments of their lives. The Nouba of Women is their moment. But the Nouba is also the Nouba of Andalusian music’s particular rhythmic movements.”

La Nouba borrows the structure of the nouba, a traditional Andalusian musical form in five parts, to tell the story of a woman who returns to the town of her childhood fifteen years after the violent War for Independence. Reading the history of her country written in the stories of women’s lives, La Nouba des Femmes du Mont Chenoua is a captivating portrait of speech and silence, memory and creation, and of a tradition where past and present coexist.
