BOWING é o Nepal, a Índia, o Bangladesh, a China que habitam o interior de São Teotónio. BOWING é a vénia que os povos do Oriente usam para se cumprimentar, vergando-se com gentileza perante o outro, oferecendo-lhe o sinal de um respeito a um tempo explícito e silencioso. BOWING é também o gesto que a coluna vertebral faz ao inclinar-se sobre a terra para com ela travar as batalhas do silêncio, da aridez, da fertilidade.

BOWING quer entrar em diálogo com o Oriente que respira no Sudoeste Alentejano, abrir portas às culturas e comunidades que, neste tempo, reescrevem a história da região. Em BOWING, oferecem-se segredos que vêm de longe, vislumbram-se e aprendem-se novas maneiras de agir, com a energia de povos que se misturam connosco, dentro das casas e pelos campos do Alentejo.

BOWING é um espectáculo que se divide em dois momentos: um ATLAS que, pelas ruas e interiores da vila de São Teotónio, convida o público a experimentar outras formas de vida, e um TEMPLO de plástico — uma estufa de agricultura intensiva, cuja terra é, foi ou será trabalhada por migrantes asiáticos. Nesse lugar, os deuses serão invocados como arautos da nossa esperança, como força primordial que nos permitirá encontrar a torrente do desejo de futuro. A música, a palavra, a dança e a imagem serão os instrumentos de contágio. Através deles, cultivaremos um novo campo, uma relação com o território e a comunidade que se abre aos afectos, às vontades e às perguntas que nos aproximam.

BOWING is Nepal, India, Bangladesh, China that inhabit the interior of São Teotonio. BOWING is the bow that the peoples of the East use to greet each other, bowing gently to the other, offering him the sign of respect at an explicit and silent time. BOWING is also the gesture that the spine makes as it bends over the earth to fight the battles of silence, aridity, fertility with it.

BOWING wants to enter into a dialogue with the East that breathes in the Southwest of Alentejo, to open doors to cultures and communities that, at this time, rewrite the region’s history. In BOWING, we offer secrets that come from far away, we glimpse and learn new ways of acting, with the energy of people who mingle with us, inside the houses and across the fields of Alentejo.

BOWING is a show that is divided into two moments: an ATLAS that, through the streets and interiors of the town of São Teotónio, invites the public to experience other forms of life, and a plastic TEMPLE — an intensive agricultural greenhouse, whose land is, was or will be worked by Asian migrants. In this place, the gods will be invoked as heralds of our hope, as a primordial force that will allow us to find the torrent of desire for the future. Music, words, dance, and images will be the instruments of contagion. Through them, we will cultivate a new field, a relationship with the territory and the community that opens up to the affections, desires, and questions that bring us closer.
