FICCIONANDO A TERRAFORMAÇÃO DE MARTE, ESPECULAMOS SOBRE A ÁGUA NO ALENTEJO

SPHERE4 é um universo ficcionado, inspirado numa pesquisa histórica acerca da paisagem do Alentejo e dos seus dispositivos de recolha e distribuição de água.

Partindo da história aquífera de Elvas como inspiração para uma arqueologia ficcional sobre civilizações passadas ou futuras, terrenas ou espaciais, explora-se a presença da água, da abundância à desertificação, e diferentes dispositivos de recolha ou distribuição, atravessando diferentes escalas ‘sitespecific‘ e ‘timespecific‘. Esbatendo a fronteira entre a criação audiovisual, a investigação e a ficção científica, esta instalação evidencia a relação de uma qualquer civilização com a água, esbatendo a fronteira entre a colonização espacial e a transformação climática do sul europeu.

O projeto é realizado por Bruno Caracol, Marie Fages e Pavel Tavares, com produção da Cooperativa Laia e apoios de Direcção-Geral das Artes, Oficinas do Convento, Um Colectivo e Cultivamos Cultura.

FICTIONING THE TERRAFORMATION OF MARS, WE SPECULATE ABOUT WATER IN THE ALENTEJO

SPHERE4 is a fictional universe, inspired by historical research about the Alentejo landscape and its water collection and distribution devices.

Starting from the aquifer history of Elvas as inspiration for a fictional archeology about past or future civilizations, terrestrial or space, the presence of water is explored, from abundance to desertification, and different collection or distribution devices, crossing different ‘sitespecific’ and ‘timespecific’. Blurring the boundary between audiovisual creation, research and science fiction, this installation highlights the relationship of any civilization with water, blurring the boundary between spatial colonization and the climate transformation of southern Europe.
