Durante a minha próxima residência artística, trabalharei no projeto Dirtopia, explorando o Pluriverso do solo. O Pluriverso é um conceito que designa um mundo onde muitos mundos cabem e coexistem. O projeto aborda o solo como uma entidade arquivística e sensorial, moldada pelo cuidado, negligência e mudança ecológica. Trabalhando com comunidades locais, exploraremos o solo através de cromatografia e gravações sonoras subterrâneas. Partindo de investigação em ecoacústica, o projeto experimenta a transmissão das vibrações de diferentes solos. Através de workshops e de uma instalação audiovisual, a Dirtopia convida a uma reconexão com o solo enquanto colaborador ativo na região de São Luís.
Laura Elidedt (1991, Michoacán, MX) é uma artista multimédia e curadora que trabalha na interseção entre arte, ciência e filosofia. Com licenciatura em Engenharia Biotecnológica, Biologia Molecular e Arte e Ciência, explora ligações entre espécies e entidades mais-que-humanas através da tecnologia, descrevendo-se como uma configuração proteica em mutação em colaboração com outras formas de vida. Explora a identidade como um sistema fluido entre biologia e cultura, partindo de epistemologias feministas-queer e de saberes ecológicos tradicionais e locais, para amplificar a nossa interconexão com outros sistemas orgânicos. Recebeu o Prémio Kuryokhin em Arte e Ciência (RU, 2021) e co-criou exposições sobre natureza, tecnologia e futuros especulativos, como “Staying with the Problem” na AIR Gallery (RU) e um jardim remoto integrado na Ars Electronica (AT). Atualmente é tutora de Biossemiótica no Mestrado Ecology Futures da Avans University of Applied Sciences, nos Países Baixos.
During my upcoming residency, I will work on the project Dirtopia, exploring the Pluriverse of soil. Pluriverse is a concept designating a world where many worlds fit and coexist. The project approaches soil as an archival, sensing entity, shaped by care, neglect, and ecological change. Working with local communities, we will explore soil through chromatography and underground sound recordings. Drawing from ecoacoustic research, the project experiments with transmitting the vibrations of different solis.Through workshops and an audiovisual installation, Dirtopia invites a reconnection with soil as an active collaborator in the region of São Luís.
Laura Elidedt (1991, Michoacán, MX) is a multimedia artist and curator working across art, science, and philosophy. With degrees in Biotechnology Engineering, Molecular Biology, and Art and Science, she explores connections between species and more-than-human entities through technology, describing herself as a shifting protein configuration in collaboration with other forms of life. She explores identity as a fluid system between biology and culture, drawing from feminist-queer epistemologies and traditional and local ecological knowledge, to amplify our interconnectedness with other organic systems. She received the Kuryokhin Prize in Art and Science (RU,2021) and has co-curated exhibitions on the topics of nature, technology and speculative futures, as “Staying with the Problem” at AIR Gallery (RU) and a remote garden part of Ars Electronica (AT). She is currently a Biosemiotics tutor in the Master Ecology Futures at Avans University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.
