PT// ‘De Gruwel van het Gezin’ (NL) é o meu romance de estreia e será publicado pela Borgerhoff & Lamberigts editoras na Bélgica no Outono de 2023. O tema central da história é o desejo por uma família só sua, quando a família significa algo horrível para si. É contada da perspectiva de uma mulher de meados dos seus trinta anos de idade que escreve uma carta ao seu melhor amigo no primeiro ano, do qual se afastou. Subtemas importantes são a dor e as lutas de identidade e de pertença quando se é minoritário, e a angústia de ser excluído de uma certa classe e de tentar criar mobilidade de classe.

EN// ‘De Gruwel van het Gezin’ (NL) is my debut novel and will be published by Borgerhoff & Lamberigts publishingers in Belgium in the fall of 2023. The core theme of the story is longing for a family of your own, when family means something horrible to you. It is told from the perspective of a woman in her mid-thirties who writes a letter to her best friend in the first grade from whom she grew apart. Important sub-themes are the pain and struggles of identity and belonging when being minoritised, and the anguish of being excluded from a certain class and trying to create class mobility.

A realizadora e escritora Inès Eshun formou-se no RITCS, Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema, and Sound em Bruxelas em 2017. Ganhou o prémio Student Visionary Award no Festival de Cinema Tribeca 2018 com a sua curta-metragem ‘The Life of Esteban’. O filme foi selecionado e ganhou prémios em festivais de cinema de todo o mundo, provando ser capaz de conquistar os corações tanto dos júris como do público.
Nascida em França, Inès tem raízes belgas, estonianas e ganesas. Foi uma das três laureadas do prestigioso concurso de escrita flamengo “Prémio Interuniversitário da Babilónia” com o seu conto “Broken Water”. As suas curtas-metragens anteriores ‘Bright Lights’ e ‘The Flood’ participaram em vários festivais de cinema.
É a criadora, co-escritora e co-diretora da minissérie ‘Shaq’ que estreou na televisão nacional belga em 2021 e para a qual funcionou como “showrunner”. Atualmente, está a desenvolver o seu romance de estreia.

Director and writer Inès Eshun graduated from RITCS, Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema, and Sound in Brussels in 2017. She won the Student Visionary Award at Tribeca Film Festival 2018 with her short film ‘The Life of Esteban’. The film went on to be selected and win awards at film festivals across the globe, proving to be able to win the hearts of both juries and audiences.
Born in France, Inès has Belgian, Estonian, and Ghanaian roots. She was one of three laureates of the prestigious Flemish writing competition ‘Babylon’s Interuniversity Prize’ with her short story ‘Broken Water’. Her previous short films ‘Bright Lights’ and ‘The Flood’ participated in various film festivals.
She’s the creator, co-writer and co-director of the miniseries ‘Shaq’ which premiered on Belgian national television in 2021 and for which she functioned as showrunner. She is currently developing her debut novel.
