PT// OLHANDO OS RINOCERONTES

A exposição FACTT – Festival de Arte e Ciência Transdisciplinar e Transnacional, apresenta a edição “Improbable Times / 01”, inserida na exposição “Rinocerontes e FACTT”, patente na sala 3 da Paços – Galeria Municipal de Torres Vedras, até 5 de setembro. 

Este festival tem sido apresentado em várias cidades do mundo desde 2017 e pretende mostrar a ligação entre arte e ciência e os artistas que trabalham esta área.

Nesta exposição estão apresentados trabalhos desenvolvidos pelos alunos do Ateliê M de São Tomé e da Escola Portuguesa em Luanda, interpretando a história de Ganga, o famoso rinoceronte (fêmea) retratado em xilogravura por Albrecht Dürer e imagem da iniciativa RHI. A gravura tornou-se numa referência na Europa e inspirou inúmeras interpretações.

No âmbito do festival, a Paços – Galeria Municipal de Torres Vedras também dará espaço a oficina Espaço Remoto, no dia 5 de Setembro. Espaço Remoto é uma oficina que pretende criar (novos) espaços interpretativos da realidade em que estamos inseridos, através de um desdobramento de ações que lhe introduzem novas dimensões, provenientes da observação e da exploração de diferentes formas de registo que navegam entre a fotografia, meios biológicos e tintas naturais. A partir de distanciamentos e aproximações à realidade explora a efemeridade de cada ponto de vista e material.

Looking at the rhinos

The exhibition FACTT – Festival of Transdisciplinary and Transnational Art and Science, presents the edition “Improbable Times / 01”, included in the exhibition “Rinocerontes e FACTT”, on display in room 3 of Paços – Torres Vedras Municipal Gallery, until September 5th.

This festival has been presented in several cities around the world since 2017 and aims to show the connection between art and science and the artists who work in this area.

This exhibition presents works developed by students from Ateliê M de São Tomé and the Portuguese School in Luanda, interpreting the story of Ganga, the famous (female) rhinoceros portrayed in woodcut by Albrecht Dürer and image of the RHI initiative. The print became a reference in Europe and inspired countless interpretations.

Within the scope of the festival, Paços – Torres Vedras Municipal Gallery will also give space to the Espaço Remoto workshop, on September 5th. Espaço Remoto is a workshop that aims to create (new) interpretive spaces of the reality in which we are inserted, through an unfolding of actions that introduce new dimensions, arising from the observation and exploration of different forms of recording that navigate between photography, media biological and natural paints. From distances and approximations to reality, it explores the ephemerality of each point of view and material.
