Nos próximos dias 24, 25 e 27 de Agosto vamos participar, numa sessão remota e paralela ao Yeastogram workshop promovido pela SOLU | Bioart Society.

Os Yeastogramas são formados num meio de cultura biológico, com levedura, para criar imagens a partir de fotografias convencionais. As imagens rasterezidas são impressas em película e expostas a lâmpadas LED Ultravioleta, sobre levedura cultivada em caixas de petri. Após aproximadamente 48h, as células da levedura expostas aos UV ficam danificadas e as abrigadas pelas partes escuras da fotografia sobrevivem, formando a imagem no meio de cultura.

Orientado pela artista Johanna Rotko, este workshop procura ensinar a rasterizar imagens, desenvolver um meio de cultura adequado à levedura e o processo e tecnologia inerente à exposição de imagens com luz UV.//

On the next 24, 25 and 27^th of August Cultivamos Cultura will participate, in a parallel remote session of Yeastogram workshop, promoted by SOLU | Bioart Society.

Yeastograms are formed by cultivating yeast on a biological growth media to create images out of conventional photographs. Raster images printed on film are exposed with Ultraviolet LED lamps onto cultivated yeast in petri dishes. After approximately 48h, the yeast cells exposed to UV are killed or injured and the ones sheltered by the black parts survive, and the yeasts form the image on the growth medium.

Guided by the artist Johanna Rotko, this workshops aimes to teach how to make rasterized images, make a suitable growth medium for yeast and the process and technology on how to expose the images with UV light.
