Heather Brand é uma fotógrafa e artista que utiliza uma técnica mista, e o vídeo, para explorar como é que as experiências, eventos e relações individuais se refletem, muitas vezes de forma involuntária, no mundo que nos rodeia. Através de imagens que surgem a partir do retrato, Brand questiona a confiança que é depositada nos materiais fotográficos enquanto repositórios visuais ou suportes que incorporam a memória, analisando a recolha, o cultivo e a recriação do mundo natural que é compulsivamente recontextualizado pelo homem.Nasceu em Nova Iorque, vive e trabalha em Meadville, na Pensilvânia. É mestre em Estudos Visuais pela Universidade de Buffalo. É professorade Arte na Allegheny College.

Heather Brand’s artworks in photo-based mixed-media and video explores how individuals experience events/relationships and, often unintentionally, reflect them on to the world around us. Through imagery rooted in portraiture she calls intoquestion our traditional reliance on photographic materials as visual repositories orplaceholders for memory. Analyzing the collection, cultivation and recreation of thenatural world that is compulsively recontextualized by man. Born inBorn in New YorkCity, Heather lives and works in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She holds a Master’sdegree in Visual Studies from Buffalo University and teaches Art at AlleghenyCollege.
