Enquanto na Cultivamos Cultura, Louise continua a explorar como o trabalho com o som pode aprofundar a nossa ligação ao ambiente. Como parte da sua prática contínua, intitulada Non(human) Sense, a Louise Mackenzie tem realizado uma caminhada sonora na Rota Vicentina e usado materiais locais para desenvolver o que designa por ‘dispositivo de escuta multiespécies’ — um meio para que tanto humanos como outras espécies possam tornar-se mais conscientes do ambiente à sua volta através do som.

Louise Mackenzie, PhD, é uma artista interdisciplinar, curadora e escritora. É diretora da ASCUS Art and Science, em Edimburgo, professora no Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design da Universidade de Dundee, e investigadora artística nas universidades de Newcastle e Northumbria, no Reino Unido. Focando-se na nossa relação material com o ambiente, Mackenzie criou performances sonoras ao vivo sobre modificação genética, conversas públicas com espécies futuras, técnicas para ouvir micróbios, a tradução de poeira centenária numa composição para órgão de igreja e partituras para escutar em conjunto com não humanos. As suas obras foram exibidas a nível nacional e internacional, incluindo The Stars Beneath our Feet (2015), recentemente apresentada no ZKM, na Alemanha, e Attractor (2025), que estreou este ano no MOMENTUM13, na Noruega. Mackenzie escreveu para a Bloomsbury, Manchester University Press, Intellect, Springer, Leonardo Journal (MIT Press) e PUBLIC Journal. Whilst at Cultivamos Cultura, Louise is continuing to explore how working with sound can deepen our connection to the environment. As part of her ongoing practice: Non(human) Sense, Louise has been making a sound walk on the Rota Vicentina and using local materials to develop what she terms a ‘multispecies listening device’ – a means for both humans and other species to become more aware of the environment around them through sound.

Louise Mackenzie, PhD, is an interdisciplinary artist, curator and writer. She is a Director of ASCUS Art and Science, Edinburgh, Lecturer at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee and artist researcher at both Newcastle and Northumbria Universities in the UK. With a focus on our material relationship to the environment, Mackenzie has created live genetic modification sound performances, public conversations with future species, techniques for listening to microbes, the translation of 100-year-old dust into a composition for church organ and scores for listening with nonhumans. Her artworks have been exhibited nationally and internationally, including The Stars Beneath our Feet (2015), shown most recently at ZKM, Germany and Attractor (2025), which premiered at MOMENTUM13, Norway this year. Mackenzie has written for Bloomsbury, Manchester University Press, Intellect, Springer, Leonardo Journal (MIT Press) and PUBLIC Journal. Her most recent writing includes two chapter contributions to Situated Listening: Attending to the Unheard, published by Routledge.
