In 2025, one proposal will be selected to join the “Bom Dia” OASis Residency, at Cultivamos Cultura for a period of 7 to 30 days during the month of September.
This call is open to international creators / artists / researchers from various fields and disciplines, as well as practitioners and experts that operate at the intersection of culture and other disciplines.
Applications can be submitted individually. Selected participants must be physically present at Cultivamos Cultura to create, produce, and implement their project over the approved timeline.
APPLICATIONS OPEN UNTIL APRIL 15th, 2025
The “Bom Dia” resident will be a part of the OASis residency program. The residency activities can include interaction within the local community (this can be in the form of artist talk, walks, workshops, open studio visits, etc). Our town of São Luís and the county of Odemira has a vibrant and culturally rich community, and we encourage residents to immerse themselves in this dynamic atmosphere. Additionally, the residency fosters collaboration between creators and the community, while also cultivating synergies between different residencies. The residents must produce an output that will be included in the group exhibition of the OASis project in 2027. Documentation of the residency will be presented on webpages and social media of the partners and the project itself. Cultivamos Cultura expects an output to be added to its collection at the end of the residency. Results and documentation of the residency may be in the format of interactive result-oriented workshops, joint art events, video and audio recordings, performance, installation, etc.
This residency includes:
- A limited budget for travel of up to €500.
- Accommodation in a private room in a shared farmhouse in the center of São Luis, within the property of Cultivamos Cultura.
- Access to a shared kitchen equipped for meal preparation.
- An artist fee of €1300.
- Equitable per diem for food.*
- Production/material expenses up to a maximum of €1600.*
- Free access to all spaces and resources of Cultivamos Cultura.
- Access to a workspace/studio for the duration of the residency period
- The team of Cultivamos Cultura will provide occasional support to the project, but it is expected that the selected individual is reasonably autonomous in executing and producing all phases of the project, which will be evaluated based on their portfolio from recent years.
IMPORTANT : *Food per diem is specific to each host institution. Production and material funding must be approved by the host institution prior to purchasing as the funding is limited. Production funding includes the production of an output that will be part of the collective exhibition. The total amount will be directly transferred to the participant(s) against an invoice emitted by the resident or their legal representative. The invoice must include the Association’s VAT number and details.
Deadlines, criteria AND application
The open call is available until the 15th of April , 5pm. Proposals submitted after the specified deadline will not be considered.
The jury is composed of three members from Cultivamos Cultura, three members from partnering OASis organizations and one external community member invited for this purpose. The jury will evaluate the proposals based on their originality, feasibility with respect to the host institution’s resource and a relevance towards the objectives of the call. We value projects that are inspired by local or natural materials, have a strong ecological interest and are rooted in a care for a sustainable future of an expanded and diverse community. Within the OASis project, interaction with the community and exchange with international artists are valued.
Results will be announced by June 15th via email to the applicants and through Cultivamos Cultura and OASis’ communication channels.
IMPORTANT – Results will be sent via email; however, due to the high volume of applications and the voluntary nature of the jury members, we do not provide individual feedback for each project.
Proposals must include:
• Project description/statement of intention (max. 500 words) with images, drawings, or diagrams. This description should outline your vision for the strategies to engage with the community, while allowing flexibility for the project to evolve throughout the residency period.
• Estimated list of resources and materials
• Signed originality declaration
• Candidate’s portfolio or website
• Summarized Curriculum Vitae (max. 4 pages)
• Project implementation timeline
• Five photographs, drawings, or illustrative images of the project (for communication purposes if selected)

Each of the residency programs will be concluded by creating artistic output – that will be both: presented to the local audience and to the wide network of OASis (via multiple platforms). The format of the works and their presentations will be decided by invited artists and the host institution. Video documentation, photographic documentation and other kinds of documentation will be expected and produced by both the resident and host institution.
The OaSis consortium and host institutions
The project is created by the unique consortium of almost 20 diverse institutions – including NGOs, culture institutions, municipalities and a university. Open Art Spaces (OASis) in Action combines 13 interdisciplinary art venues in 10 countries (Armenia, Belgium, France, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Slovenia) that reflect the modern model of the open art center which merges local context with international art exchange.

Residência “Bom Dia” OASis
O residente de “Bom Dia” fará parte do programa de residências OASis. A nossa vila de São Luís e o concelho de Odemira têm uma comunidade vibrante e culturalmente rica, e incentivamos os residentes a imergirem nesta atmosfera dinâmica.
Além disso, a residência promove a colaboração entre criadores e a comunidade, bem como sinergias entre diferentes residências. Os residentes devem produzir um resultado final que será incluído na exposição coletiva do projeto OASis em 2027. A documentação da residência será apresentada nas páginas web e redes sociais dos parceiros e do próprio projeto. A Cultivamos Cultura espera ainda que um resultado da residência seja adicionado à sua coleção no final do período de trabalho.
Os resultados e a documentação da residência podem assumir diferentes formatos, como workshops interativos, eventos artísticos conjuntos, gravações de vídeo e áudio, performances, instalações, entre outros.
A residência inclui:
- Orçamento limitado para viagens até 500 €.
- Alojamento num quarto privado numa quinta partilhada no centro de São Luís, dentro da propriedade da Cultivamos Cultura.

A equipa da Cultivamos Cultura fornecerá apoio ocasional ao projeto, mas espera-se que o candidato selecionado seja razoavelmente autónomo na execução e produção de todas as fases do projeto, sendo esta capacidade avaliada com base no seu portefólio dos últimos anos.
IMPORTANTE:
- O per diem para alimentação é específico de cada instituição anfitriã.
- O financiamento para produção e materiais deve ser previamente aprovado pela instituição anfitriã, uma vez que os fundos são limitados.
- O financiamento da produção inclui a criação de um resultado final que integrará a exposição coletiva.
- O montante total será transferido diretamente para o residente mediante apresentação de uma fatura emitida pelo residente ou pelo seu representante legal. A fatura deve incluir o número de identificação fiscal da Associação e os respetivos detalhes.
Prazos, Critérios e Candidatura
A convocatória está aberta até às 17h do dia 15 de abril. Propostas enviadas após o prazo não serão consideradas.
A seleção será feita por um júri composto por três membros da Cultivamos Cultura, três membros das organizações parceiras do OASis e um membro externo da comunidade.
As propostas serão avaliadas com base na sua:

— Viabilidade face aos recursos da instituição anfitriã
— Relevância para os objetivos da convocatória
Valorizamos projetos que:

Os resultados serão anunciados até 15 de junho por e-mail aos candidatos e através dos canais de comunicação da Cultivamos Cultura e do OASis.
IMPORTANTE
Os resultados serão enviados exclusivamente por e-mail. Devido ao elevado número de candidaturas e ao caráter voluntário do júri, não será possível fornecer feedback individual sobre cada projeto.

Resultado e Documentação da Residência
Cada programa de residência culminará na criação de um resultado artístico, que será apresentado tanto ao público local como à rede internacional do OASis (através de várias plataformas).
O formato das obras e das suas apresentações será decidido pelos artistas convidados e pela instituição anfitriã.
