PT// O trabalho de Ânia Pais tem sido profundamente determinado pela sua relação com a paisagem e pela forma como a própria define e explora o conceito de paisagem. Entendendo-a como um espaço e um tempo que a acolhe, explora-a através da relação que essa possui como seu corpo e espírito, pela forma como impulsiona ao movimento e à transformação. A artista explora este conceito como um ponto de convergência entre o corpo, o espírito e o território, onde a experiência pessoal e coletiva se entrelaçam. Definindo-a através das pessoas que habitam esse espaço, das relações que se constroem, dos rituais de uma comunidade e da linguagem que surge dessa convergência e interação.
Existe uma curiosidade inerente no processo da artista, que a levam a desbravar território, o que a impulsiona e motiva à deslocação, assim como à prática da caminhada e à criação rituais comportamentais específicos para cada lugar que habita.
Tudo o que a experiência da paisagem convoca, afeta e influência o seu trabalho, assumindo assim o seu trabalho como um testemunho da paisagem, do seu acontecimento.

Ânia Pais artista visual, vive e trabalha entre a aldeia da Atalaia na Covilhã e Lisboa. Licenciada e
Mestre em Pintura pela Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa.
Em 2020 inicia o mestrado em Pintura pela FBAUL e a instalação é o foco principal da sua investigação, tendo a experiência da paisagem como fonte de inspiração procura abrir o espaço ao acontecimento instaurando nele um palco aberto. Trabalha principalmente o diálogo entre corpos que se dão no vazio da cena, desenvolvendo uma comunicação visual e física entre o acontecimento e o espetador através de uma escritura corporal.
O seu trabalho desenvolve-se principalmente em torno da área têxtil. Através de um
processo performativo de desfiação do tecido cria peças que vivem da sua multiplicidade de formas,
destaca-se ainda no seu processo de investigação a sua cenografia em A Infinda Apetência da Luz
do Sol de Eduardo Molina, uma performance multidisciplinar.
Em 2023 conta ainda com o prémio Bolsa Rama – Residências Artísticas no âmbito do Prémio Arte
Jovem 8a Edição, Fundação Millennium BCP e Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa, Lisboa e com a
aquisição de obras pela Colecção António Cachola. Este ano foi nomeada bolseira da edição 2024
dos Project Rooms da Bienal de Fotografia do Porto. Ao longo do seu processo tem colocado especial importância na participação em residências artísticas, como forma de expandir a sua pesquisa e aprofundar o seu processo de trabalho.

EN// The work of Ânia Pais has been deeply shaped by her relationship with the landscape and by the way she defines and explores the concept of landscape. Viewing it as a space and time that embraces her, she explores it through the relationship it has with her body and spirit, in the way it drives movement and transformation. The artist explores this concept as a point of convergence between body, spirit, and territory, where personal and collective experiences intertwine. She defines it through the people who inhabit that space, the relationships that are built, the rituals of a community, and the language that emerges from this convergence and interaction.

There is an inherent curiosity in the artist’s process that leads her to explore new territories, motivating her to move, as well as to engage in walking and creating specific behavioral rituals for each place she inhabits. Everything that the experience of the landscape invokes, affects, and influences her work, making her art a testament to the landscape and its unfolding.

Ânia Pais is a visual artist who lives and works between the village of Atalaia in Covilhã and Lisbon. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon.
In 2020, she began a Master’s in Painting at FBAUL (Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon), and installation art is the main focus of her research. With the experience of the landscape as a source of inspiration, she seeks to open up the space for occurrences, creating within it an open stage. She primarily works with the dialogue between bodies that exist in the emptiness of the scene, developing a visual and physical communication between the event and the spectator through bodily expression. Her work mainly revolves around textiles. Through a performative process of unraveling fabric, she creates pieces that live through their multiplicity of forms. A key highlight in her research process is her set design work in The Endless Desire for Sunlight by Eduardo Molina, a multidisciplinary performance.
In 2023, she received the Rama Grant – Artistic Residencies as part of the 8th Edition of the Young Art Award, supported by the Millennium BCP Foundation and Carpe Diem Art and Research, Lisbon. Her works were also acquired by the António Cachola Collection. This year, she was awarded a fellowship for the 2024 edition of the Project Rooms of the Porto Photography Biennial. Throughout her process, she has placed great importance on participating in artistic residencies as a way to expand her research and deepen her working process.
