PT// Mellissa desenvolverá o seu projeto Sense of Symptoms, que explora um dos sintomas do IIH, o Pulsatile Tinnitus. Monsoon fará experiências com hidrofones para captar sons para as suas novas esculturas interativas, bem como para explorar a biologia vegetal da área local.
Isto faz parte de um projeto apoiado pelo Arts Council England onde Mellissa irá expor trabalhos na sua primeira exposição individual no Phoenix Art Space em Brighton U.K. de 18 a 25 de Outubro de 2023.
EN// Mellissa will be working on her project Sense of Symptoms, which is exploring one of the IIH symptoms Pulsatile Tinnitus. Monsoon will be experimenting with hydrophones to capture sounds for her new interactive sculptures as well as exploring the plant biology of the local area.
This is part of a project supported by the Arts Council England where Mellissa will exhibit works in her first solo show at Phoenix Art Space in Brighton U.K. October 18th-25th 2023.

Mellissa Monsoon (anteriormente Fisher) é uma artista britânica cujo trabalho explora as relações entre a natureza e o eu. Alguns dos seus trabalhos anteriores envolveram a utilização de moldes do seu próprio corpo, e das bactérias que nele vivem, para visualizar o mundo invisível na nossa pele. Monsoon formou-se no curso MA Art & Science na Central Saint Martins em 2016 e, desde então, tem trabalhado em grandes comissões com o Eden Project e a BBC. As suas investigações e projetos recentes partem de uma doença cerebral rara, a Hipertensão Intracraniana Idiopática (IIH), com a qual Monsoon foi diagnosticada em 2018. Atualmente os seus trabalhos concentram-se na visualização de sintomas invisíveis e em dar voz às experiências que têm vivido, como também às da comunidade de mulheres que sofrem desta condição. Mellissa trabalha em proximidade com a comunidade IIH, como representante de Artes e Cultura da IIHUK Charity.
Mellissa Monsoon (previously Fisher) is a British artist whose work explores the relationships between nature and the self. Past works have involved using casts of her own body and the bacteria that live on it to visualise the invisible world on our skin. Monsoon graduated from the MA Art & Science course at Central Saint Martins in 2016 and has since worked on major commissions with the Eden Project and the BBC. Recent research and projects are working with a rare brain condition Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) which Monsoon was diagnosed with in 2018, her works are now focused on visualising invisible symptoms and giving a voice to her lived experiences and those of the community of women who suffer with this condition. Mellissa works closely with the IIH community as Arts & Culture representative with the IIHUK Charity.
