Este projeto de Paulo Bernardino Bastos resulta de uma exploração dos princípios da solidão, na tentativa de refletir sobre a mesma na era da conectividade e edição genética.

Solidão é entendida enquanto agenciadora de significados vários desde solidão voluntária no silêncio criativo de estar consigo próprio, à impossibilidade de experienciar o mundo num mesmo espaço tempo que os outros, proposta por Jakob von Uexküll, passando pela solidão da saudade.

Os bonobos (um tipo de chimpanzé mais próximo geneticamente do ser humano) fêmea,  que se apresentam como personagens desta narrativa, apelam ao ideal de partilha e proximidade biológica com os humanos enfatizado pelas proporções e vestuário (de “fato de macaco”) que nos realçam uma relação metonímica e empática com elas.

A inauguração acontecerá no dia 16 de Abril, às 18hrs, e a exposição estará patente até dia 7 de maio.

This project by Paulo Bernardino Bastos results from an exploration of the principles of solitude, in an attempt to reflect upon it in the era of connectivity and genetic editing.

Loneliness is understood as an agent of various meanings, from voluntary solitude in the creative silence of being with oneself, to the impossibility of experiencing the world in the same space-time as others, proposed by Jakob von Uexküll, to the loneliness of longing.

The female bonobos (a type of chimpanzee genetically closer to the human being), who present themselves as characters in this narrative, appeal to the ideal of sharing and biological proximity with humans emphasized by the proportions and clothing (of “monkey suit”) that enhance a metonymic and empathic relationship with them.

The inauguration will take place on April 16th at 6pm and the exhibition will be open until May 7th.
