Ao adquirir um projector de filme de 16 mm, António Caramelo visitou-nos para mais uma residência que influenciou o nosso ciclo de cinema ao ar livre – Cinema na Aldeia. Permitiu-nos assim criar um momento de visita ao passado, em que a projeção do vídeo era acompanhada pelo som da fita a desenrolar-se das bobinas e pela gargalhados dos espetadores.

As soon as António Caramelo acquired a 16mm film projector visited us for another residence that influenced our outdoor cinema cycle – Cinema na Aldeia. He allowed us to create a moment of visit to the past, where the video projection was followed by the sound of the tape unfolding from the reels and the laughter of the spectators.

BIO | António Caramelo é licenciado em Escultura pela FBAUL. Desde 1997 tem participado em diversas exposições maioritariamente em Portugal, assim como na Escócia, Estados Unidos (“Where Are You From? Contemporary Art From Portugal”, Faulconer Gallery, Grinnell Colege, Iowa, USA, 2008), Noruega (“Portugal – 30 artists under 40”, Stenersen Museum, Oslo, 2002), Alemanha (“Expect the World”, Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlim, 2002), Espanha (“Vídeomix: vídeo-arte portuguesa contemporânea”, La Casa Encendida—Caja Madrid, Madrid, 2006).Tem colaborado e realizado sistemas audiovisuais em tempo real para projetos na área da dança, teatro e arte sonora. Tem um Mestrado em Arte Digital pelo MECAD (Media Centre of Art and Design, Barcelona). Desde 2001 que leciona na Universidade de Évora, no Departamento de Artes Visuais-Multimédia.

António Caramelo was born in 1969. He holds a master’s degree in digital arts at Media Centre of Art and Design, Barcelona and a degree in Sculpture, a FBAUL. Since 2001, he has been teaching media arts in the department of visual arts at the University of Évora, Portugal. As a practicing artist he has collaborated on several projects in different areas such as sound, dance and theatre, working with real-time audiovisual systems and since 1997 he has been an active participant in exhibitions, mostly in Portugal, but also in Scotland, USA (“Where Are You From? Contemporary Art From Portugal”, Faulconer Gallery, Grinnell Colege, Iowa, USA, 2008), Norway (“Portugal – 30 artists under 40”, Stenersen Museum, Oslo, 2002), Alemanha (“Expect the World”, Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlim, 2002), Germany (“Expect the World”, Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlim, 2002), Spain (“Vídeomix: vídeo-arte portuguesa contemporânea”, La Casa Encendida—Caja Madrid, Madrid, 2006) UK, Norway and Belgium.
